Acting on AI Optimization Recommendations

Your Scope dashboard includes an AI Optimization Agent — an AI that has studied your visibility data and knows exactly what's holding you back. Here's how to use it effectively.

Where to Find Your Recommendations

Navigate to Optimize in the left sidebar. You'll see a prioritized list of recommendations, each labeled with:

  • Impact — High / Medium / Low (estimated effect on your Visibility Score)
  • Effort — Easy / Medium / Hard (time and complexity to implement)
  • Category — Schema, Citations, Content, Reviews, or Profile

Sort by Impact × Effort (the default) to see the highest-ROI improvements first.

The Four Recommendation Categories

Schema Recommendations

Issues with your website's structured data. Common schema recommendations:

  • "Missing LocalBusiness schema on homepage"
  • "Business hours in schema don't match Google Business Profile"
  • "No FAQPage schema detected — add Q&A content for top prompts"

Fix: Use the Schema Pack to auto-generate the correct JSON-LD and install it. See the Schema Pack installation guide.

Citation Recommendations

Issues with your directory listings and citation consistency. Common examples:

  • "Business address differs between Yelp and Google Business Profile"
  • "Yelp listing has no photos — AI platforms weight visual-rich listings higher"
  • "BBB listing is unclaimed — claim it to unlock authority signals"

Fix: Update the flagged listings directly on each platform. Scope links you directly to the edit URL.

Content Recommendations

Issues with the content on your website. Common examples:

  • "No services page detected — AI platforms need explicit service lists to recommend you"
  • "About page lacks entity signals — add founding year, credentials, and team info"
  • "No original FAQs found — add Q&A content targeting high-intent prompts"

Fix: Add or update the relevant pages on your website based on the specific recommendation.

Review Recommendations

Issues with review volume, recency, or distribution. Common examples:

  • "Google reviews older than 6 months on average — AI platforms weight recency"
  • "No reviews on Yelp — Perplexity uses Yelp heavily for local business recommendations"
  • "Review response rate is 0% — AI platforms interpret owner engagement as a trust signal"

Fix: Launch a review generation campaign. Even 3–5 new reviews per month can meaningfully shift AI recommendations.

Tracking Your Fixes

After implementing a recommendation, click Mark as Done in Scope. The Agent will monitor your next scan for improvements and confirm whether the fix had the expected effect.

If a recommendation is resolved but your score doesn't improve, the Agent will investigate and surface a follow-up recommendation.

The Priority Framework

When you have limited time, use this priority order:

  1. Easy + High Impact — do these immediately (usually schema fixes and GBP completions)
  2. Medium + High Impact — schedule these in the next sprint
  3. Easy + Medium Impact — batch these together for an efficient afternoon
  4. Hard + High Impact — plan these as a project (usually website content work)

Most businesses see a measurable score improvement within 1–2 weeks of addressing just 3–5 High Impact items.

Q: Why does the AI agent sometimes repeat a recommendation I already fixed? A: If a recommendation is marked done but the underlying issue reappears in scan data (e.g., your Yelp listing reverted, or a schema tag was accidentally removed by a website update), the Agent will re-surface it. Check the specific data point it's flagging — it may be a different instance of the same type of issue.

Q: How many recommendations should I implement per month? A: There's no limit, but quality beats quantity. Implementing 5 High Impact recommendations thoughtfully is better than rushing through 20 Low Impact ones. Scope tracks your score trajectory, so you'll see diminishing returns as the easy wins are captured.
