Getting Started

Your First 7 Days with Scope

6 min read

The first week with Scope is your fastest opportunity to move the needle. Here's a day-by-day plan to go from signup to measurable AI visibility improvement.

Day 1: Set Up Your Business Profile

Your first task is making sure Scope has the right information to monitor your business accurately.

  1. Add your business — Enter your exact business name (match it to your Google Business Profile exactly), website URL, primary category, and location.
  2. Review your prompt library — Scope generates 100+ prompts based on your category. Scan through them and add any custom prompts specific to your business (e.g., "best [specific service] in [your neighborhood]").
  3. Add competitors — Add your 2-3 main competitors in the Competitors section. Scope will track their AI visibility alongside yours so you can see your relative position.
  4. Run your first scan — Hit Run Scan and let Scope collect your baseline AI Visibility Score. This takes 2-5 minutes.

Day 2: Understand Your Baseline Score

Review your initial AI Visibility Score and scan results.

What to look for:

  • Overall score — Your 0-100 composite score across all four AI platforms
  • Platform breakdown — Where are you strongest? Weakest?
  • Competitor comparison — How do you compare to the competitors you added?
  • Which prompts you're missing from — These are your biggest opportunities

Don't be discouraged by a low initial score. Most businesses start with a score below 30, and meaningful improvement is achievable within 30-90 days.

Day 3: Run Your Schema Pack

If you haven't already, install Scope's Schema Pack on your website.

  1. Navigate to Schema Pack in the left sidebar
  2. Review the generated JSON-LD code for your business
  3. Install it on your website — either by pasting it into your site's <head> section or using the WordPress/Webflow plugin if available
  4. Return to Scope and click Verify Installation to confirm it's live

Schema markup is one of the highest-impact actions you can take for AI visibility. Getting it installed in your first week gives it more time to be crawled and incorporated into AI retrieval systems.

Day 4: Audit Your Citation Health

Scope's Citation Sources section shows which platforms AI uses to research businesses like yours. Today, check and update your top citations:

  1. Google Business Profile — Log in and ensure hours, services, photos, and description are complete and current
  2. Yelp — Claim your listing if you haven't, and fill in every field
  3. Apple Business Connect — Visit business.apple.com and claim your listing
  4. Industry-specific directories — Check which directories Scope flagged as important for your category and verify your presence

Even if you're already listed on these platforms, spend 15 minutes verifying the information is accurate and current. Outdated citations are a primary cause of AI hallucinations.

Day 5: Request Reviews Strategically

Reviews are one of the strongest signals for AI recommendations. Today, start building review velocity:

  1. Identify your 10 most satisfied recent customers
  2. Send each a personal message (text, email, or in-person) asking for a Google review
  3. Share the direct Google review link (find it in Google Business Profile → Home → "Get your first review" or "Ask for reviews")
  4. For Yelp: send customers to your Yelp page and ask them to leave a review there too

Five new Google reviews in your first month can meaningfully improve your AI Visibility Score for local business recommendations.

Day 6: Review and Respond to Existing Reviews

AI platforms factor in how businesses respond to reviews. Today, audit your existing review profile:

  1. Check Google, Yelp, and any other active review platforms
  2. Respond to every review that doesn't have a response yet
    • Positive: Brief, genuine thank you, personalize with a detail from their review
    • Negative: Empathetic acknowledgment, offer to make it right offline
  3. Flag any reviews that appear to be fake or violate platform policies

A high response rate signals to AI platforms that your business is actively managed and customer-focused.

Day 7: Read Your Optimization Recommendations

Navigate to Recommendations in Scope and review your personalized action plan. Scope prioritizes recommendations by expected impact — focus on the top 3-5 items.

Common high-priority recommendations:

  • Add FAQPage schema to your website
  • Claim a missing directory listing
  • Improve your Google Business Profile description
  • Add specific services to your GBP Services section
  • Update schema to reflect current hours

Pick your top 3 recommendations and schedule time to implement them in the coming week.

After Week 1: Setting Expectations

Your first scan is a baseline. AI visibility improvements take time to propagate:

  • Schema changes: Visible to AI crawlers within 1-3 weeks
  • Citation corrections: 2-6 weeks to propagate through directories
  • Review accumulation: Ongoing — each new review incrementally improves your signal
  • Training-data improvements: Reflected in next model training cycle (months)

Run Scope again at the 30-day mark to compare your baseline score to your current score. Most businesses that complete the Week 1 actions see a 5-15 point score improvement by Day 30.

Q: What if my initial score is very low (under 10)? A: A very low initial score typically means your business has minimal citation presence and/or incomplete GBP. Focus Days 3-6 actions first — Schema Pack + citation audit + review requests — and expect meaningful improvement within 30-60 days of consistent action.

Q: Can I add multiple businesses to Scope? A: Yes — your plan determines how many businesses you can monitor. Growth plan users can monitor up to 3 businesses. Contact us if you need to monitor more businesses than your current plan allows.
